The Big Four Accounting Firms

Hi guys, it has been long I posted here, been so busy. Today I would be taking a look at the big 4 accounting firms. As accounting students, we quickly subscribed to the idea of finishing school and working for one of the big four’s. That was the ultimate dream and every one was fighting for the chance of being picked by any one of them. The big four’s as you all know are Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, PriceWaterhouse Coopers (PwC), Ernst & Young and Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG). Working in one of the above stated companies was highly coveted by all accounting students because apart from building your CV, it meant you stood tall with the elites in the accounting profession. It is similar to consulting where we have three major consulting companies namely Mckinsey & Co, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Bain & Co.

China closing in on first dollar sale since 2004

China’s Bond Issue

  • China is reportedly close to issuing its first dollar bond sale in 13 years. The makeup of the bond will be a US$2 billion dollar denominated sovereign bond which will consist of US$1 billion of five year bonds and US$1 billion of 10 year bonds. This issue comes at a period were sovereign bond yields are at a multi-year low.

  • Cryolife is seeking an horizontal acquisition of Jotec AG, a  German-based, privately-held developer of technologically differentiated cardiovascular stent grafts, and cardiac and vascular surgical grafts, focused on aortic repair.  Cryolife on the other hand is a leading medical device and tissue processing company focused on cardiac and vascular surgery, hence its horizontal acquisition.

On Christmas day, my family went out to celebrate the birthday of my father’s elder sister. Yes, she was born on the 25th of December and since I was born (some 22 years ago), my extended family had taken it as a tradition to visit her and celebrate Christmas with her on her birthday. Luckily for her, she married a Christian and somehow converted to the religion. Quick reminder, I am a Christian as you can see from my about me page, but my father’s family are Muslims.  She from a Muslim home married a Christian and she had to convert to Christianity.
