Thirteen (13) years ago, the Nigerian stock market was on a journey to becoming bullish. People were trading stocks, and the Nigerian populace became more aware of the stock market; this was in the year 2003. It all began as a result of the economic reforms that began in 2003, earning Nigeria a BB-credit rating which led to US$18bn debt write-off and created pension funds which have several billions of Naira to be invested in Nigerian securities, investors’ confidence was ignited and lifted in Nigeria Stock Market. The banking sector was also a catalyst to the bullish run of the Nigerian stock market.

Fuel scarcity in Nigeria; an OPEC member country.

March 10, 2016, what a day!  Got to the office very late, I think around 9:20am. Am sure you would be wondering why I was so late?, well let me narrate my ordeal to you. I didn’t wake up at the earliest of time, although I consider the time to be quite early. I had my bath, ate something at the express command of my mum, then I was off to work. Normally, public buses pull up just in front of my street, but today was an exception, they were no buses whatsoever. I opted for a bike (Okada), and I was dropped just some few meters away from my house. I still needed to enter at least two buses before getting to the office. I got to the bus-stop, and by the look of things, I was very discouraged. Over 60 people waiting for buses that in this situation were as scarce and precious as diamonds. For the first bus, I stood for almost 30 Minutes.

Hi guyz, I am in the benefit administration unit of my company  as a youth corper, what we do basically is to calculate the benefit to be paid to retirees, ie their 25% (below 50) or Lump sum (above 50) and what their monthly payments would be. Some retirees disgruntled about how little the monthly payment is may opt for an annuity with an insurance company. On request by the retiree, we stop his monthly payment and move his money to any insurance company of his choice on receiving his annuity agreement. We also initiate payment into retirees’ accounts by preparing the payment instruction to the custodian who has an intermediary bank that facilitates the transfer from our account into the retiree’s account.
